Overview
Residential Electrical Repairs & Troubleshooting
Electrical problems are not always obvious from the symptom alone. A dead outlet, tripping breaker, flickering light, or other electrical issue can have different possible causes. Troubleshooting involves working through the affected part of the electrical system to identify where the problem is coming from and what needs attention.
Art Power troubleshoots and repairs residential electrical problems involving outlets, switches, GFCIs, breakers, lighting, circuits, and wiring.

Our Approach
How We Troubleshoot Electrical Problems
Identify the Problem
We start with the issue you're experiencing and the part of the home or electrical system that appears to be affected.
Trace the Circuit
Depending on the issue, troubleshooting may involve checking outlets, switches, breakers, connections, or wiring associated with the affected circuit.
Determine the Repair
Once the source of the problem is identified, we can explain what needs attention and what the repair will involve.
Troubleshooting
When the Cause Isn't Obvious
The same symptom can come from different places. A breaker that keeps tripping might point to an overloaded circuit, a faulty device, or a wiring problem, and flickering can come from a loose connection, a fixture, or something else on the circuit. That’s why we trace the problem before recommending a repair instead of guessing from the symptom.
You don’t need to know what’s causing the problem before calling us. If an outlet stopped working, a breaker keeps tripping, lights are flickering, or something else seems wrong, tell us what you’re experiencing and we can start troubleshooting from there.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?
A breaker can trip for different reasons, and the cause is not always obvious from the breaker itself. Troubleshooting can help determine whether the issue is associated with the circuit, something connected to it, or another part of the electrical system.
Should I keep resetting a breaker that keeps tripping?
A breaker that trips repeatedly is a sign that something on that circuit needs attention. Rather than resetting it over and over, it's worth having the circuit checked so the cause can be found.
Why did some of my outlets stop working?
Several different electrical issues can cause one outlet or a group of outlets to lose power. We can troubleshoot the affected outlets and circuit to help locate where the problem is coming from.
Why are my lights flickering?
Flickering can come from the bulb or fixture, a loose connection, a switch or dimmer, or something elsewhere on the circuit, so the cause isn't the same in every home. We troubleshoot lights that flicker, dim unexpectedly, or work intermittently to find which part of the electrical system needs attention.
Can you troubleshoot a GFCI outlet that keeps tripping or will not reset?
Yes. We troubleshoot GFCI outlet problems, including outlets that repeatedly trip, will not reset, or are not providing power as expected.
What if I know something electrical is wrong but I don't know what's causing it?
You do not need to know the cause before contacting us. Tell us what you are experiencing and we can troubleshoot the affected part of the electrical system to determine where the issue is coming from.
